2015

The Rejection That Started It All

In 2015, Prague classmates Otakar Šuffner and Marek Vašíček teamed up to tackle trader undercapitalization. Despite an early rejection at a student competition, they launched Získejúčet.cz on their own. By focusing on discipline and risk management, the platform quickly gained traction, users, and gained its first investment.

2016

Defining a New Industry

In 2017, Otakar and Marek launched a global service combining simulated trading with real-time market data. Through the FTMO Challenge—an evaluation of discipline and skill—traders could earn real rewards based on their performance. This pioneering concept helped shape what is known today as the Modern Prop Trading industry.

2021

Breaking Records

The turning point came in 2019–2020, when FTMO scaled globally, growing its user base from thousands to millions of traders. Between 2021 and 2023, the company was recognized as Central Europe’s fastest-growing tech company by Deloitte for three consecutive years, achieving a record growth of 39,432%.

2023

Building the Ecosystem

In 2023, we expanded beyond retail trading by acquiring Quantlane, a traditional proprietary trading firm. This integration brings quantitative and institutional expertise into our group, advancing our vision to support traders across multiple segments.

2025

The Global Vision

In 2025, we acquired the global broker OANDA. With 30 years of history and licenses across major global markets, OANDA provides regulated live brokerage services, whereas FTMO continues to specialize in its simulated trading environment.
