Which instruments can I trade and what strategies am I allowed to use?

You can trade all simulated assets (instruments) available in the platform, including 42 Simulated Forex pairs (covering Majors, Minors, and select Exotics), as well as 6 additional simulated instruments: 3 US indices, Gold, Crude Oil, and BTCUSD.

Please note that maximum exposure limits may apply — per instrument, per trade, and per asset class.

These limits, along with the full list of available simulated assets, can be viewed on this link. Additionally, the "Volume limit" field in the MT5 Symbol Specification window shows the maximum exposure per instrument in lots.

Your trading style is up to you. As long as your simulated trading is legitimate (in line with proper risk management rules, i.e. you operate the account as you would on real market taking into account possible risks), conforms to the real market conditions, and does not constitute Forbidden Trading Practices, we generally do not limit or restrict your trading strategy, whether it involves discretionary trading, algorithmic trading, Expert Advisors, etc. We do not require you to use a Stop-Loss, although it is generally advisable to always have certain safety measures in place at all times.

If you intend to use trading robots (Expert Advisors – EAs), keep in mind that if you use an EA from a third party, there might be other people already using the same EA and therefore, the same strategy. By using a third-party EA, you potentially run a risk of being denied the FTMO Rewards Account if you exceed the maximum capital allocation rule. Please note that each MT5 account is subject to a limit of 200 pending orders at any one time. In addition, there is a maximum number of order-related actions per day (typically around 2000) per account, which may include new orders, modifications, and executions. Excessive activity from Expert Advisors (EAs) can overload the platform and trigger anti-flood protections. If we detect such hyperactivity, we may ask you to adjust your strategy or EA logic.

Please beware of the forbidden trading practices described in detail here. If we identify intentional activities or Modus Operandi being repeated on more accounts, we reserve our right to take the necessary action to mitigate risk. This might vary from removing the conflicting positions, rebalancing the account, reducing leverage, or terminating the account completely and ceasing our cooperation altogether.
