What is the difference in the product between FTMO Global and FTMO US?
The core of the FTMO experience remains the same; you'll go through the Evaluation Process, follow your Trading Objectives, and become eligible for Rewards upon reaching the FTMO Verified Prop Trader stage.
With FTMO US, the available instruments include Spot FX pairs and simulated futures contracts. Therefore, to align with the characteristics of real futures markets in the United States, certain trading conditions in our simulated environment differ. These include adjustments to account structure, execution logic, product availability, and fee components. These changes are designed to reflect the specific conditions of US-based futures markets, ensuring that the simulated environment remains as close as possible to real market scenarios. While these adjustments are necessary, the core structure and principles of the FTMO experience remain unchanged.
Netting & FIFO Rules
For simulated trading with FTMO US, only MT5 in netting mode is available, which automatically enforces FIFO (First-In, First-Out) and disallows hedging.
This setup has several important implications:
- Only one position per symbol can be open at a time
- Each new trade adjusts the size or direction of that position
- You can’t assign separate TP/SL levels to individual entries, only one TP/SL applies to the full netted position
- You can’t manually close newer trades before older ones on the same symbol (FIFO rule applies)
Contract Expiry (Simulated Futures)
You have access to simulated futures contracts, which come with expiration dates.
Key points:
Positions must be closed before expiry
- If not, they are auto-closed 1 hour before expiry at the current market price from our liquidity providers
- Any pending orders on the contract are also cancelled
- Expiry dates are announced in advance on our Trading Updates page
- The next expiring contract is added to the platform 5 days before the current one expires, while the current contract switches to “Close-only mode,” allowing you to reduce or close existing positions
These differences are mostly structural and shouldn’t significantly impact your trading strategy, but it’s important to be aware of them.
